Mon Petit Meuble Français does not import wood. All wood varieties used in our furniture are sourced from sustainably managed, PEFC-certified French forests. As historian Martine Chalvet notes, “the area of French forestland has doubled since the 19th century,” now covering as much land as in the Middle Ages. We do not contribute to tropical deforestation, nor do we transport trees thousands of kilometers by ship or plane.

Ash Wood: The Primary Wood of the ÉGÉE Scandinavian Collection
With a soft white or white-gray, slightly pearlescent appearance, ash wood aligns perfectly with the minimalist codes of Scandinavian design—an aesthetic reinterpreted for our ÉGÉE collection. This wood variety imparts a gentle, warm tone and boasts a beautiful grain 💚!
Known for its durability, ash is a hardwood that withstands impacts well, so much so that it’s often used for hockey sticks.
Ash leaves are even used in “centenarian” teas, which are said to help relieve joint pain. The finishes in this collection highlight the natural beauty of ash, with a subtly bleached effect that harmonizes the different solid wood sections, which naturally vary in intensity from gray to white. Only the areas from the table edge to the “knee” of the legs are lacquered in color, a finish known as “shorts style.”
In addition to its many intrinsic qualities, ash thrives in the Northern Hemisphere, especially in France’s Massif Central and Western regions.
